The private health insurance system and the health care system are in a mess because of the failures in the private sector. Now this govt of the people need to fix the system fouled up by profit motives that have zero business being in a health care system. Remember too that our current economic downturn was caused by the failures in the private sector AND by insufficient attention by this government of the people, by the people and for the people ...or at least that is what the govt is supposed to be....

The number of people without coverage and the number who cannot get coverage should be different. With 46 million without and 30 million who cannot get coverage means 16 million are not even looking for coverage. That sounds very realistic to me.

Are you sure you are not misinformed or you are informed but just would like to spread misinformation? All you wrote are not the reality of the Health Care Reforms. Republicans and Democrats alike, are greedy enough to accept money from Lobbyists and interest-groups hence there are always two opposing forces - the Pros and the Cons.

I do not belong to any party, but it seems to me that American Politics is being influenced by selfishness and corruption. Receiving Campaign Money just to run for an office is by far a form of LEGALIZED CORRUPTION. Is this how Democracy works? Politicians accepting bribes cloaked by/in CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS! And yet the American people hate the kind of Politics practiced by the Third World Countries. What's the distiction - one is richer that the others. Moreover, one is getting 6 figures while the other is getting countless zeros and commas.

All Americans, irregardless of orientation, race or whatever, must wake-up to the truth that we are governed by a bunch of hungry politicians, hungry for power, hungry for money, hungry for everything.

This is the reason why Health Care Reform is so much of a subject today. Left, right, center, liberals, conservatives, etc..they try to argue who is better "story-tellers" Are they really serious? Health Care Reform is for everybody and not to one particular race. Too much Government? What the heck is this? Don't you people enjoy the benefits of the Postal Service where you can send mails for just $0.42(?), obtain coverage from Medicare and MedicAid, attend State Universities and Colleges, get treatment from VA Hospitals, ride on Bus/Train Transits either on the road or subways, just to name a few. Who do you think run these entities? It is the United States Government, may it be Federal, State or local. Are you blind? There is no such thing as too much government. This group of words has been coined by Cons.

GOD, PLEASE HELP AMERICA; THE LAND OF THE FREE!!!!!!!

So would it be okay if the total was "only" 10 million American citizens without health care? Or would it only be okay if the total was only 5 million. Or 3 million.

What number would be okay with The Heritage Foundation?

Or is the number just a ruse? Are you really only concerned with what your medical/corporate backers tell you to do?

I find that President Obama is disingenuous that what he did in his speech to Congress was repackage the House bill. He put up a lot of smoke and mirrors. As he said in year 2003 that he is committed to a single payer government plan. It might take time but he is not backing away from that.

He is what I believe his strategy is:

Let the House bills, which all have the public options and let the Senate come up with a bill that most likely will not have the public option, but are marked up and passed in the House and the Senate. Then they go to conference and in that, conference the public option will be in legislation that is going before the House and Senate for a vote. He will they proceed as FDR did and use the stimulus package which still has over 600 billon dollars to pressure those democrat’s that are not in favor of the “New Health Insurance Reform Act to vote for it. He will go as far as not support them for re-election and in fact in the primary find opponents to run against them. This hard ball Chicago and FDR politics.

Here are some of things that will be in the final bill sent to President Obama:

He says you can keep your health insurance plans. What he is really saying is all health insurance plans are going to change, because by law preexisting conditions will be added, portability will be added and if you get sick the health insurance companies cannot drop you.
Therefore, that original health insurance plan good or bad is going to change. The cost of those plans in my estimation will rise which will move more people to the public options, which we will have warehouse prices and warehouse quality. He also says that you can keep your doctor. Who says the doctor wants to keep you?

He said that existing laws on abortion would remain, however amendments in the House to include language that explicitly states not to allow abortion through the public options the democrats voted down that an amendment. If in acted the Catholic Hospitals will be forced to perform abortion-on-demand or go out of business.

The President and the democrats have repeatedly stated that illegals, which are part of the 47 million uninsured will not be covered however, an amendment was put forth in the House to have to verify your social security number it was also voted down by the democrats.

There are other issued such as allowing health insurance companies to cross state lines, which would increase competition, tort reform it is estimated defensive medicine cost $210 billion dollars, and allow individuals to expense their health costs, which corporation are allowed to do.

There is one other issue that does not want to forget, especially since I am on Medicare.
What about the "death panel". HR3200 does create an appointed board of bureaucrats that have the authority to determine who gets expensive treatments (like chemo) and who dies.

And, what about access? There are an inadequate number of primary care physicians today, many will quit if forced to become government employees. Imagine your doctors waiting room looking like the DMV - pick a number and have a seat.............
